Before you start

Why this lesson exists

The future-audit posts ask for evidence that a future plan is connected to present behavior. This lesson uses a short reversible trial rather than a prediction about your life.

Do the exercise

  1. Name the outcome

Replace “be better at AI” with “use AI to prepare a meeting brief I can verify in ten minutes.” Define what useful would look like.

  2. Inspect the current routine

Write when the task happens, how long it takes and where you get stuck. Ask for missing information before accepting a solution.

  3. Design a seven-day trial

Choose a single change and a small time box. Record the baseline, expected improvement and a reason you would stop the experiment.

  4. Review the evidence

At the end compare results with the baseline. Continue, adjust or stop based on the record. A failed trial should leave a lesson you can use.

A prompt to adapt

Replace the bracketed parts with your own practice details.

Turn [goal] into a seven-day experiment. Current routine: [facts]. Constraints: [time and resources]. Ask up to three clarifying questions, then propose one behavior, a baseline, a daily record and a stop/continue rule. Do not assume motivation or invent future outcomes.

What this looks like

A trial might allow ten minutes to create each brief and five minutes to check it. Continue only if two briefs are accurate and the total time is lower than your baseline.

Check your result

Use evidence from your output. A confident explanation from the AI is not enough.

  • The action fits a real calendar slot.
  • A baseline and decision rule are written down.
  • The result can be evaluated without asking the AI whether it was good.

If it isn’t working

If the plan contains ten habits, choose the one most directly connected to the outcome. If measurement takes longer than the task, use a simple time and pass/fail log.
